Moisés "O Pescador" is an Afro-Indigenous singer-songwriter, originally from Itaúna, Minas Gerais. A self-taught artist with a strong aptitude for the arts, he became a singer and composer, and has lived in Belo Horizonte since 2005. Passionate about the arts and popular culture, Moisés was enchanted by the traditional neighborhood of Lagoinha, the cultural cradle of the capital of Minas Gerais. It was in this setting that his artistic journey took a new turn, beginning a profound path of reconnection and connection with his ancestry.

In 2014 and 2015, the artist performed at the Raízes Negras Festival, held at UFMG. In 2016, he was awarded at the Agrarian Reform Music Festival and took part in the 3rd Meeting of Composers Dona Jandira. In 2017, he presented the show Salve Orixás at Teatro Marília.

In September 2018, he returned to Teatro Marília with the performance Moisés Pescador Toma Bença, in which he asked for permission from those who came before him to continue his mission of singing the history of Lagoinha. On that occasion, he received the blessing of the matriarchs from the Umbanda temple Pai Jacob do Oriente and from Mestre Lagoinha, an important local samba musician.

From then on, he continued performing at various music festivals such as CURA Lagoinha, the 6th Descontorno Cultural Festival, and the 2019 Black Art Festival (X FAN-BH). In 2021, he held the online edition of the Festival De Todas as Cores, which supported and awarded 18 artists from the interior of Minas Gerais with resources from the Aldir Blanc Emergency Law.

Also in 2021, he recorded his album Ancestralidade, scheduled for release in 2027. In the same year, he participated as an artist and executive producer of the 1st edition of Festival Salve Orixás, held online on his channel. In 2022, he was one of the creators of Circuito Lagoinha, held in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the iconic Lagoinha glass – the "darling" of Belo Horizonte.

In 2023, he organized the 2nd edition of Festival Salve Orixás on May 5th, 6th, and 7th at Teatro Francisco Nunes, located inside the Municipal Park of BH. In 2024, he participated in the Inovativa de Impacto training program, an acceleration initiative in partnership with MDIC and Sebrae-SP. In 2025, he joined the SIM Program – a leadership training initiative for Black and Indigenous people from Instituto Brasilidades (ID_BR). Also this year, the 3rd edition of Festival Salve Orixás will take place in his hometown of Itaúna-MG.

Moisés Pescador’s mission is “to share experiences, educate through love, and honor ancestry through music,” with the purpose of generating transformation wherever he goes.
